Upper Deerfield was formed in 1922 from part of Deerfield Township. Today it combines working farms and a nationally significant nursery industry with suburban neighborhoods, Seabrook, the Route 77/North Pearl Street commercial corridor, schools, healthcare and major food-processing and manufacturing employers.

Seabrook became an unusually diverse wartime and postwar community built around Seabrook Farms. Japanese Americans and Japanese Peruvians leaving U.S. incarceration camps joined European refugees, Appalachian migrants, African American workers from the South and Caribbean laborers in a large agricultural and food-processing community.
1325 Highway 77 in the lower level of the Upper Deerfield Municipal Building. The museum preserves the stories, photographs and records of Seabrook’s diverse population.
9 Northville Road. A longstanding center of Japanese American Buddhist life and the site of community traditions including the annual Obon Festival.
At its peak, Seabrook Farms was one of the largest frozen-food and vegetable-processing operations in the country and helped shape modern Seabrook.
